Applications for GRFL Globalising Growers Tour Open

14-Mar-2018 "**Applications will remain open until 16th May**

The Grains Research Foundation Limited (GRFL) has today opened applications for their 2018 Globalising Growers Tour to the USA.

Now in its fourth year, GRFL's annual tour is an opportunity for younger Queensland grain farmers to experience some of the latest information coming out of the USA. Tour visits include viewing the latest in sorghum research, new technology developments, bridging the farm to consumer gap as well as meeting fellow farmers to allow for continued conversations and learning once the tour is finished. The tour runs for around 13 days on the ground in the USA commencing in late July.

Previous tour participants have gone on to take on board positions within the Australian grains industry, identified the need for new crop genetics to be made available to Australian grain growers and taken action to make those genetics available.

Tamara Uebergang was part of the 2017 tour and joined the GRFL board at their December 2017 AGM. "The US Tour was a fantastic opportunity to visit farms you only read about, as well as meet farmers to only really know through Twitter. We visited a variety of operations and experienced a good dose of 'Southern Hospitality'. Two weeks of sharing ideas and swapping stories of success and failure with other growers was invaluable. In supporting this tour, the Grains Research Foundation have been enormously generous. I was happy to join the board to support more growers in benefitting from the experience", said Ms Uebergang.
